The corrosion resistance of gaskets in the heat exchanger limits the industrial use with critical products such as ammonia. This is why the GEA EcoFlex product line includes the laser-welded plate heat exchanger (LWC) in its product range. Two plates are welded with each other, forming a hermetically tight flow channel. As compared with the fully welded version, the LWC plate heat exchangers offer the advantage of product-side cleaning and better resistance against thermal stress. |
The Commercial Refrigeration market also uses Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers (BPHE) for smaller applications. The gasket-free, hermetically sealed concept of a highly compact and cost-efficient exchanger perfectly fits the bill. Stainless steel and pure copper are used as brazing filler in the most common designs of our BPHE, which comes in multiple shapes and sizes. Aircon- and Process-chillers, supermarket installations and domestic heat-pumps use BPHE's in many applications within the refrigeration cycle. The efficiency of our BPHE’s allows the use of smaller charges of increasingly expensive refrigerants. The versatility of our BPHE’s fits well with the need to accommodate newer and more environmentally safe refrigerants. Today, specialized BPHE solutions, new materials and improved manufacturing methods contribute to an increasing use of units. |
