Gas/Gas Heat Applications

Air Pre-Heating
The REKULUVO™ (recuperative air pre-heater) is used as a combustion air pre-heater in the chemical and petrochemical industry. Examples include methanol and ammonia plants or refineries.

Its uniquely high heat recovery rate significantly reduces fuel consumption as compared with conventional pre-heaters. The primary benefits are increased productivity and a short amortization period.

The REKULUVO also plays a major role in capacity increases. The combustion air is pre-heated using waste gas in order to reduce fuel consumption. Usually a maximum of 70 % of the waste heat is recovered from the flue with conventional products. The REKULUVO, however, allows an increase in the recovery rate, to up to 95%. This is combined with natural gas savings of up to 3%, or a production capacity increase of up to 3%.

Flue Gas Heating
In a flue gas cleaning plant, the flue gas passes through several purification stages before it reaches the chimney. Frequently a DeNOx stage requiring a certain temperature is used as the last stage. The GEA EcoFlex REKUGAVO™ offers an optimum means for reheating. Due to its high heat recovery rate, a very small temperature difference, down to 36°F (20°K) and less is feasible. This allows significant energy savings.

Besides its use in waste incineration plants, the REKUGAVO™ is increasingly used in catalytic post-combustion units.
